Crafting the Poppa Brand Identity from Story to Shelf

The Savoury Nosh approached Leap to develop the branding and packaging for Poppa, their new popcorn snack targeting children. The brief called for a fun, vibrant, and character-driven identity that would stand out at retail whilst communicating the product’s quality credentials and wholesome appeal.

Leap developed the complete brand world for Poppa — from its whimsical origin story to the two brand mascots, Coco and Cara, who each represent a distinct flavour variant: Chocolate and Caramel. The packaging design needed to work cohesively across both SKUs whilst maintaining individual flavour differentiation through strong colour blocking — deep red for Chocolate and golden yellow for Caramel.

Beyond aesthetics, the packaging was designed to clearly communicate the product’s key selling points: freshly baked, quality ingredients, trans-fat free, and Halal certified — all critical considerations for the target market.

The result is a vibrant, shelf-ready packaging system that brings the Poppa brand story to life, connecting emotionally with its young audience whilst instilling confidence in parents.
