Project Detail
Twenty chefs. Twenty dishes. One ingredient that binds them. Small Plates Big Flavours is California Raisins’ showcase of culinary imagination — a cookbook inviting Singapore’s finest chefs to reimagine a humble pantry staple as an ingredient worthy of fine-dining canapés.
Leap was brought in to design and produce this first of two volumes, working closely with The Singapore Chefs’ Association to shape a publication that honoured both the ingredient and the craft behind each recipe. The design draws on the language of premium gastronomy — a commanding matte black cover, dramatic food photography set against clean white recipe spreads, and a typographic system that feels editorial without sacrificing readability.
Monochromatic chef portraits lend the book a documentary quality, grounding its aspirations in the real people and stories behind the food. Series one of two, this publication set the benchmark for what would follow.
